What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing for the mind, body and spirit. It is based on the concept that "life force energy" flows through and around us, and if one's life force energy is low we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, but if it is high we are more capable of feeling balanced, healthy and happy.
What can Reiki heal?
Reiki is an incredibly powerful - yet gentle - modality that can help with insomnia, indigestion, morning sickness, mood swings, stress and anxiety, pain management, headaches, self-esteem, intuition, post-partum issues and much more.
Reiki is simple, natural and safe. It helps the body resolve pain and heal injury, and can be effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady. It works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Reiki also assists with emotional issues and fosters an increased sense of health and well-being.
What to expect at a Reiki Session:
A deep energetic rebalance occurs during a Reiki session. You can expect to feel refreshed, relaxed and centered after your appointment. Although Reiki can be conducted virtually anywhere, it is best to be in a quiet and peaceful space free of interruptions. During an in-person session, a client usually lies on a massage table and the practitioner administers Reiki by placing her hands gently on the client's chakras (energy centers) to start the flow of healing energy.
The client may feel warmth, tingling, some shifting in the body as well as a deep relaxation. An appointment lasts about an hour and is followed by a question/answer period to discuss any issues that might have arisen during the session.
